BITTEN BY THE LOVE BUG BLOG HOP & SSD-DT Valentine's Project- Altered Journal

Make sure to check out each member's blog. There will be some fun prizes along the way, AND there will be some AWESOME ideas!  So for this blog hop I made this altered journal.

So for this project I picked up this journal at Michael's in the dollar section, WOOHOO gotta love the dollar section.

So the 1st thing I did was inked the edge with the spiral so that I could cover the rest of the cover with paper.

This is CM paper and stickers from the LOVE paper album kit they make. These were the left overs from the kit.

For this project I used Martha Stewart Holiday Cake cartridge. I cut the images at 4". I used the Love/Valentines image. This is how I set up the paper for the cuts, but I ended up not using the brown paper.  Instead of using the XO and Love sayings that were cut out I used the CM stickers.

Recipe
1- premade journal
CM Love paper album kit/ paper and stickers
light pink and dark pink cardstock
dark pink ink
Martha Stewart Holiday Cake cartridge

I hope you all enjoyed the project, it turned out nicely and was pretty easy to make.

CARD BOX GIFT SET TUTORIAL-UPCOMING BLOG HOP!

HI Everyone,

Just wanted to remind you all about the upcoming blog hop Bitten by the Love Bug this Saturday! Please come and join all of us for this awesome creative hop. There will be lots of blog candy and tons of ideas from some very talented ladies!!

Here is the tutorial for the card boxes, I had an overwehlming response asking for a video tutorial on how to make them.  Sorry it took me so long to get this video up. I have been really busy and I am just learning my editing software so that is kind of a slow down for me too. Thank you for such a big response on wanting to see more.
Anyways here is the video on how to make the card boxes that I posted on the blog hop on January 15th. These boxes will hold A2 size cards.

Bottom of box.
Cut paper to 10x8"
Score long ways at 3" at each end
Score shorter lenght at 2" at each end
Fold at each score line
Cut center square just on the lines
Then put box together-see video for this

Top:
Cut paper to 10 1/8 x 8 1/8
When I scored these I scored at 3 1/8 and 2 1/8 to make the top fit better
Follow stay steps for the bottom

I found that before you put the box together, to add pattern paper to the outside of it if you use solid color cardstock for the base.
I decided at Christmas I was going to make more homemade gifts so I came up with the idea to make card sets for everyone, but I also wanted a box to put them in. So I searched the web for an idea and I found this box for cards from Tammy with Creative Critters. Thanks Tammy I gave away these gift sets for Christmas and everyone just loved them!

Hope you enjoy!

SSD- DT Valentines Challenge

Hi Everyone
Rebecca here. This week over at Sweet Sassy Diva, Bobbi Jo asked us to make a project for either Valentines Day or for a Birthday. So I decided to make a Valentine's Day card for my husband. For this card I used Happy Hauntings.

Recipe
Happy Hauntings- Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein cut at 3"
Black Pen
Yellow, green, black, purple and white card stock
I-rock
Patterned Paper

I just thought this would be a cute and unusual Valentine's Day card. This is the 1st time I have made smaller cuts with this cart and I will say piecing the two monsters together was a bit difficult. I would recommend cutting them a little bigger. A Few of My Favorite Things Blog Hop!

Welcome to Creations With Becka and the ...A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS Blog Hop!

If you've come from visiting Meagan at http://beyondpaperdesigns.blogspot.com/, you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our fun hop, you can go to http://www.inkingitupcrazy.blogspot.com/  and start at the beginning. We would love to share a few of our favorite things with you today!  Before we start I would like to give a special thanks to Kassidy over at http://www.inkingitupcrazy.blogspot.com/ for putting together and hosting this awesome hop today!

Each Design Team member will be featuring a project made especially for this hop using their favorite crafting tools and techniques. Make sure to check out each member's blog. There will be some fun prizes along the way, AND there will be some AWESOME ideas!

So I would like to share some of my Favorite things with you! Of course my all time favorite cartridge is Create A Critter, my favorite stamps are My Pink Stamper Stamps and my favorite adhesive for cards is the 3M ATG Gun!!! YEAH!!!
For todays project I made card sets and boxes to hold the cards in. Here are some of the pictures of the cards I made to put in the card holders:
For this card I used Pink 8 1/2 x 11 card stock, cut it in half to create an A-2 size card, then the patterned paper I am not sure who from, I bought it a long time ago, I used Create A Critter cut at 3.5" and then My Pink Stamper stamps.

I used 8 1/2 x 11 light blue card stock cut in half for an A2 card, Create A Critter cut at 3.5" and My Pink stamper stamps

Again, I used Create A Critter and My Pink Stamper stamps.

I used Create A Critter at 3.5 and My Pink Stamper Stamps.

Here are the boxes I made to hold the cards. I just thought these would make really nice gift sets.

I used Storybook for the letters and DCWV cardstock as it is a little thicker and better for holding the cards weight.  If any of you would like more information about how to make the boxes please leave it in your comments and I will make another post with a video to show you how.

Okay, so what is a blog hop with out some blog candy??? So for todays hop I will be giving away one of my favorite things that Bobbi Jo over at SweetSassyDiva introduced me to last year. I have been hooked on it ever since. So to win this awesome Pink ATG Gun, you must be a follower and leave a comment on this post. Please one comment only and US residents only, unless you would like to make up the difference in shipping costs.

SSD- DT Challenge

This week for Sweet Sassy Diva's DT challenge we were asked to use a new cartridge. Well I ordered some but they have not come in yet so I thought I would do this cute winter card.
For this card I used Create A Critter and cut the penguin at 3.5 inches. I used dark purple 8 1/2 x 11 card stock cut in half at 5.5" to make an A2 card size. Light purple card stock is cut at 5.25"x4.25" and I used the Snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder on it. I also used My Pink Stamper Winter Wishes stamp.

SSD- DT Repurpose an item challenge

Hi everyone

This week for SSD design team challenge we were asked to take an old item and re purpose it into a new item. I decided to use an old baby formula can and to turn it into a piggy bank for my son. Check out this video below.

Ok, so here is what the finished pictures look like.

Supplies needed:
Empty can of baby formula or coffee tin
All Boy paperstack from DCWV (or any cardstock you prefer)
Green, blue and orange cardstock
Life's a Beach Cartridge

Ok so here are the steps on how to make this project
1. clean out the can with a papertowel to get any extra formula left inside the can
2. Take the patterned cardstock and put it against the can and measure where to cut the paper, use paper trimmer to cut on that line
3. Take your adhesive and cover the back side of the patterned paper, making sure to get all the edges, then wrap the cardstock around the can, being careful to smooth out the glue underneath the paper with your hand
4. Cut of your cuts, I used Life's a beach cart for the letters cut at 2", green octopus at 3.5", and the blue octopus at 2.5".
5. Glue letters and 2 blue octopuses to the canister.
6. Cut a circle in the blue cardstock to cover the lid with, glue the circle on, then cut a 1" by.25" slit in the top of the lid.  And the two little slits for the green octopuses legs.
7. Place octopus on lid, I used a little bit of glue to hold it into place

So Embarrassing! Look at this Mess

Ok, so I have decided to join Melanie over at Scrapily Ever After's boot camp challenge. It is all about organization. And as you can see it totally looks like a bomb went off in my scrapbook room. I just got so busy doing holiday projects  and I just kept piling more stuff on top of more stuff. But this month I plan on totally cleaning out my room and getting organized for 2011. Can't wait for the daily challenges to start.

Ok I know these are really bad, so don't gasp disgust. HAHAHA!

So the next pictures you see I hope to have some of this mess cleaned up!
